To Ski...

The Dachstein West ski area (30 minutes away by car) is the connected resorts of Gosau, Russbach and Annaberg, home of ski star and 5-time World Cup winner Marcel Hirscher.  Consisting of 140km of pistes, much of which winds through larch and pine forests, skiing in Dachstein West offers an impressive mountain panorama, perfect pistes, mostly with a snow guarantee, modern lifts, traditional mountain lodges and inexpensive ski passes.

For beginners, or younger participants, there are some excellent, designated areas for improving confidence and technique. For improvers, there are well thought-out and accessible runs to continue learning and developing on. Innovatively, Dachstein West also offers interchangeable adult ski passes to enable parents (and/or grandparents) with children to take it in turn to accompany their charges. Discounts also apply to Juniors (6-15 years), Teenagers and Seniors (above 60).

For those for whom skiing is the main event, the Dachstein West ski pass also offers full access to:

Feuerkogel, Ebensee (20 minutes away) and fabulous pistes with distant lake views
Dachstein Krippenstein (40 minutes away) and with an 11km home run!
Abtenau (45 minutes away) and 10km of pistes aimed mainly at families

Not included on the ski pass, but only 20 mins away is the beginner friendly and multi-discipline area of Postalm.

We will assist with arranging equipment hire, ski lessons and can offer to introduce you to the delights of skiing in this area.

"The location worked surprisingly well for our group as the Dachstein West ski area was an easy 20-30mins drive away, and the town itself had plenty to do for non-skiers.

Do take a look, it surprised us how well the location worked. I'd say it's ideal for mixed groups and touring around in winter.

All corners of the Dachstein West area were beautifully quiet when we went, despite it being February half-term in the UK. We felt like we had the place to ourselves.

Bad Ischl itself was quiet, but beautiful, and has some lovely cafes including the famous Zauner chocolate/patisserie. There were lots of things to do there including a spa and lovely parks We also took a day trip to Hallstat which made for a great break from skiing - beautiful village with an interesting salt mine and a lovely boat ride between the train station and village."
