I woke nice and early this morning and it had all the makings of another beautiful sunny day. Reading some of the comments from the previous dayโs post had me mulling over the conversation about procrastination. It turns out that whilst some of you have said my posts have motivated you… it turns out your comments have motivated me. ๐
Today, was a day for zero procrastination. I was going to do stuff! ๐๐
I was on a roll, by 9am I had done a load of tidying upstairs, finally got around to deconstructing the extra bed Iโd put together for my friendโs visit, put away laundry, hoovered, watered the plants and even managed another 20 mins on the cross trainer. I was very impressed with myself… procrastination be gone! And then I went downstairs. It turns out zero procrastination only works on the first floor of this house… ๐๐
Mark had gone outside to carry on with another stage of his โProject French Drainโ. Having dug the channel, it now needs to be back filled with a mixture of rubble and stones in order to work. Under normal circumstances, weโd probably have been tempted to just go and buy a load, but thatโs not possible and also an expense we could do without. In digging the channel, he had unearthed a lot of pebbles in the earth, possibly from some distant past attempt to create similar.
Much like my own pebble path project, the stones need separating from the earth to be of much use. Sitting on the ground painstakingly picking them out is both a tediously slow and soul destroying job, which is why Iโve only done bits of mine at a time. It took me days of โdoing a bit here, bit thereโ to complete just a 1m square stretch of path. Mark, being the ingenious husband he is, has come up with an invention to solve the problem using a water butt, an old car dog guard and some chicken wire. Itโs positively brilliant! When heโs finished his bit, Iโm going to nick it for finishing my project – itโs a game changer! ๐๐
Whilst all of this was going on, I decided to make some hot cross buns. Iโve seen some photos posted on here and had a craving and thought Mark had definitely earned a treat.
And so I discovered another of those annoying personality traits I suffer from.. not procrastination, but one job leading to another… I have no idea what the word for that is. ๐ค
It goes something like this: The bread machine lives in a dark corner of the kitchen… move all the stuff that lives in front of it and get bread machine out to a workable position.. plug it in… hmmm best just get the hoover out and scoop up these bits around here… unplug it, drag hoover out, plug that in… the bits turned out to be dead leaves from my basil plant.. closer inspection shows that it has been infested with green fly… best treat that.. and stick it outside to be sure it doesnโt cross infect the other herbs. Take out the other herbs, cut back the dead bits and hoover up again. I should probably mop the floor too now itโs free of debris. Decide that since I have the hoover out, I will do the rest of the kitchen floor… and the sitting room.. and the hallway… hmmm… should probably clean the windows.. and maybe dust some of the surfaces. One of the dog beds is looking a bit worse for wear… maybe I should make a new cover for it.. best add that to my list… now, what was it I was going to do? ๐๐๐ด
Is there a word for this? It seems to happen a lot!
Stay safe everyone xx
