Day 23 & 24 in the Big Bad Ischl House….

(Tuesday, 7 April 2020 and Wednesday, 8 April 2020) I’m sorry, I’ve been a bit lax in writing my updates the last few days. Truth to tell, the weather has been so beautiful that we’ve […]

Day 22 in the Big Bad Ischl House….

(Monday, 6 April 2020) I woke nice and early this morning and it had all the makings of another beautiful sunny day. Reading some of the comments from the previous day’s post had me mulling […]

Day 21 in the Big Bad Ischl House….

(Sunday, 5 April 2020) One thing that occurred to me recently is just how quickly I have become ‘institutionalised’. Notwithstanding the couple of days of plot loss, I have become aware that our days have […]

Day 20 in the Big Bad Ischl House….

(Saturday, 4 April 2020) Having spent the last couple of days festering around the place and doing a bit of this and a bit of that, it was a huge relief to have had a […]

Day 18 & 19 in the Big Bad Ischl House….

(Thursday, 2 April 2020 and Friday, 3 April 2020) I’ve thought long and hard about this update. You’ve all become accustomed to upbeat, keeping busy and somewhat philosophical posts of late and I know that […]

Day 17 in the Big Bad Ischl House….

(Wednesday, 1 April 2020) It appears to have snowed again overnight and the morning was also bitterly cold. But thankfully, the sun has again put in an appearance and clear blue skies have returned. There’s […]

Day 16 in the Big Bad Ischl House….

I’ve seen many people talking about the effects this lockdown has on you, not knowing the day of the week, the time of day, the ups and downs, good days, bad days. It’s true, you […]

Day 15 in the Big Bad Ischl House….

Probably as a result of our epic naps yesterday afternoon, we somewhat predictably didn’t sleep so well last night. Cue another cuppa on the balcony in the dead of night. 😬 I’ve said it before, […]

Day 14 in the Big Bad Ischl House….

With very few exceptions, my days start the same way, all year round, regardless of the weather. I shuffle half comatose out of bed, make a coffee and take it out on to the balcony. […]

Day 13 in the Big Bad Ischl House….

Rather surprisingly, I appear to have come out of my epic cross trainer expedition relatively lightly. With the exception of some creaky knees climbing the wooden hill to bed last night and some slightly achy […]

Hi, I am Nicky…

Welcome to my blog! Having originally started on Facebook as a way of keeping friends and family updated during the Covid-19 lockdown, it is a diary of that time when our Bed & Breakfast business was closed due to the pandemic. It evolved into a collection of random musings, stories and our experiences of an unprecedented time in our lives. I had many requests to keep going with the updates and what you see here is the end result. I hope you enjoy reading it and look forward to hearing from you too!
