Rather surprisingly, I appear to have come out of my epic cross trainer expedition relatively lightly. With the exception of some creaky knees climbing the wooden hill to bed last night and some slightly achy upper arms (upper arms of all things?! Clearly my wings need de-bingoโing !! ๐ณ), I seem to have come out of the experience relatively unscathed. Damn, no excuse not to do it again then. ๐คจ
This morning was spent sorting out a few little tomato seedlings as they were collected (at a safe distance) by one of their new Mums this afternoon. And then finally… FINALLY.. I sewed something!! Good grief, itโs only taken me a week to get around to it ๐ A long overdue cushion cover – the third in a set for our guest bedroom. After which, I went off out into the garden. The day was far too nice to waste indoors sewing and after all, Iโd at least started on the queue of sewing related stuff and you shouldnโt overdo these things! ๐
Mark, as planned, got up early and was out by 8am, working on his compost heap project. Apart from taking him the odd drink and interrupting him to take photos (see? I remembered today!), I left him to it and pottered about in the garden doing a bit more on my own projects… the gravel path and the veg patch. We only have today of sunshine apparently and then we turn back again to cold and snow, so I think we can say we made the most of it.
There was a big and much celebrated โTa-Dah!โ moment today… Mark has finished his compost big project! We are chuffed to bits with it! Not only do we have a much needed 3rd bin, which will make life so much easier come the summer (lawn cuttings) and the autumn (leaves) but we have also gained around 3m or so of garden depth! This has been one of those jobs that you keep putting off because itโs just so daunting. But Mark has done an amazing job, he just kept doggedly plugging away at it and he has worked so very, very hard. Bravo Mark, itโs fab achievement! ๐ ๐ฅ ๐
There is still some more we want to do with the newly cleared area – take a load of the stuff that was unearthed to the tip for example, but we canโt do that until everything reopens anyway. Levelling the ground a bit for sun loungers (itโs the perfect place to sit in privacy in the busy summer months), putting up some trellis and planting some bushes/flowers/ maybe fruit trees etc. Dunno yet, that part will probably evolve. We might get the perfect day to set light to that bonfire pile tomorrow though, the weather looks like it might be in our favour then, so fingers crossed.
We celebrated the completion of โProject Compost Binโ by siting in the garden and enjoying the last hour of sunshine, looking out at the results of our respective labours with feeling of satisfaction and a well earned bottle of something cold. Beer for Mark, an elderflower cider for me. A lovely end to a lovely day. Prost! ๐บ
Stay safe everyone xxx
